Introduction

Position Description:
The Finance Manager will provide support to WSU GH Kenya programs and ensure smooth running of the Finance department.
 

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Economics or equivalent qualification
• Certified Public Accountant (K).
• At least 5 years’ experience in finance management with 2 years of managerial experience.
• Familiarity with use of an Information Management system in the financial management.
• Proficient in MS Office.
Skills & Abilities:
• Experience in managing of project funds, preparation of bank reconciliations, financial statements, and financial reporting and data analysis, auditing and taxation.
• Experience with grant administration
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Analytical and Problem-solving skills,
• Excellent organizational skills
• Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
• Supervision Skills.


 

Job Specification

The Washington State University - Global Health (WSU-GH) Kenya, which is a legally registered NGO. WSU GH - Kenya serves to manage a broad range of public health research projects in Kenya supported by WSU and its collaborating partners including United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),Food and Agriculture Foundation (FAO), UK Fleming Fund, the Paul Allen Foundation and Wellcome Trust. The WSU Research Program has the following opening:

Position: Finance Manager (1 Position)
Contract duration: Twelve (12) Months (full-time engagement)
Reports To: Administrative Manager
Location: Nairobi, Kenya

 

Duties and responsibilities:
• Processing all cash advance and funding request from WSU Pullman.
• Coordinating all WSU GH Kenya Audits.
• Processing the Payroll for the Organization.
• Preparing all the Bank Reconciliations for the Bank Accounts held by the Organisation.
• Checking and reviewing WSU-Kenya Payment Vouchers as per the issued purchase requisitions/orders for goods and services in close coordination with the Program Coordinators.
• Reviewing all the Finance document and passing all the Journal entries into the accounting System.
• Maintaining the Asset Register for the Organisation.
• Preparing and presenting pipeline reports to the funders as requested.
• Budget Monitoring and expenditure forecasting for the projects.
• Supervising and checking that all the Statutory Deductions are filed on time.
• Ensuring Compliance with the Finance Policy of the Organisation.
• Part of the Procurement Committee in charge of assessing, and awarding/recommending supplier tenders, bids, quotations, and proposals.
• Reviewing and validating invoices and receipts of delivered items before payment processing.
• Establishing and negotiating contract terms and conditions, and maintain supplier relationships
• Preparing monthly Management reports as requested by the study coordinators and PIs.
• Supervising the finance staff.
• Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
